My childhood was filled with Hayao Miyazaki films like “Laputa – Castle in the Sky”, “Nausicaa – Valley of the Wind” and “Princess Mononoke”. So naturally, Ghibli Museum is definitely one of the highlights of Tokyo for an avid fan like me. 🎞

Even if you haven’t seen any Studio Ghibli films, I’m certain you will be amazed at the artistry and creativity that went into creating the Ghibli Museum. They’ve managed to extract the beauty of Ghibli films and brought them to life in absolutely stunning detail. Everything about the museum exudes the pure imagination and the childlike creativity of Miyazaki.

PS. There’s no photography allowed inside the Ghibli museum, so the photo I could take was this outdoor shot.

How to get there: The museum can be reached from Mitaka Station on the JR Chuo Line (15 minutes, 220 yen from Shinjuku Station) There are shuttle buses from the station to the museum (210 yen one way, 320 yen roundtrip, children are half price), while a taxi ride costs about 700 yen.

Opening hours: 10:00 to 18:00 (advance reservations required). Closed on Tuesdays and over the New Year holidays,

Admission: 1000 yen for adults with discount for children.
